I'm a new Assistant Literary Agent but have been writing for ten years. I've been in your place with seeking representation and submission to editors so I understand your wish to be represented. However, I'm limiting the number of authors I represent due to life, which makes me very picky. My passing on your manuscript is no reflection of your writing. For lack of a better phrase, "I like what I like when I see what I like." I'm also going to be working with a co-agent for the time being, so I'm picking on behalf of two discerning people. Auto rejections will be stories that are not KidLit. I'm firm on age groupings for the genres: 0-18 years of age within specific KidLit genres. If characters are older than 18 in a YA, I consider that New Adult, which is not a genre I'm looking for right now. Please ensure your characters and narrative fall within KidLit before querying me.
