Hi from Hillary! You've reached my QueryManager page.

➤ If your work fits a #MSWL item I have or if I've liked one of your pitches in a contest feel free to include note of that in your query or stick it in the "referral" box!
➤ I do sometimes like pitches in contests that are a bit outside of the genres I take unsolicited queries in; if I personally liked your pitch or specifically asked to see your work *and* it's outside of the genres I regularly take unsolicited queries in, there is a separate genre tag for that on my form below: "Pitch Hillary Liked: Other Genre". NOTE: THIS TAG IS ONLY FOR QUERIES I HAVE PERSONALLY SOLICITED, and you may use my regular tags if your work already fits under an area I regularly take queries in.

Overall, in fiction, since I work almost exclusively with commercial material, the biggest thing I look for is a protagonist who enters the story with a solid, emotive, story-wide goal and who, by pursuing that goal, causes the rest of the story to happen.

In Fiction, I currently only consider unsolicited queries that fall into the following categories:
✔️ MG and YA (all genres & sub-age bands including lower MG, crossover between MG/YA, & crossover between YA/New Adult)
✔️ Graphic novels for kids, though only projects that have an illustrator attached
✔️ New Adult and Adult rom-com and rom-com adjacent material (including relevant genre mashups!)
✔️ New Adult and Adult romantasy
✔️ New Adult and Adult SFF/Romance mashup (including romantic dystopian, romantic space opera, etc.)

If you're not sure if your book is crossover, MG, YA, New Adult, or Adult, go ahead and pick your best guess. Sometimes the boundaries, especially in those crossover areas, can be fluid.

I also represent select Adult narrative nonfiction focused on history but do not represent memoir and will decline any memoirs I am sent.

Querying me material outside of these areas will likely result in a pass unless I have specifically solicited the submission.
