Overall, in fiction, since I work almost exclusively with commercial material, the biggest thing I look for is a protagonist who enters the story with a solid, emotive, story-wide goal and who, by pursuing that goal, causes the rest of the story to happen.
In Fiction, I only consider queries that fall into the categories I represent:
✔️ MG and YA (all genres, including crossover between MG and YA)
✔️ Graphic novels for kids, though only projects that have an illustrator attached
✔️ New Adult/Crossover and Adult rom-com and rom-com adjacent material
✔️ New Adult/Crossover and Adult romantasy
✔️ New Adult/Crossover and Adult SFF with strong romantic storylines
I also represent select Adult narrative nonfiction focused on history but do not represent memoir and will decline any memoirs I am sent.
Querying me material outside of these areas will likely result in an automatic pass unless I have specifically solicited the submission.
Hi all, this is a special query form for the start of April! I'm temporarily closed to queries for all genres except middle grade series, trilogies, and duologies, so if you have a middle grade series, trilogy, or duology to want query to me, you've reached the right place!
Please send me your query letter, a synopsis of your project, and your first chapter.
I'm looking for work at this point that is planned to be a series and has a discernible plot arc that will carry over multiple books. I'll reopen to standalones with series potential soon, but for now I'm really just looking for projects that are meant to contain more than one book; things like:
Rick Riordan's series
The School for Good and Evil
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Skandar and the Unicorn Thief
Keeper of the Lost Cities
