Querying Adria Goetz - Senior Literary Agent and Illustration Coordinator at KT Literary
Hello!
Thank you so much for sharing your work with me. I affectionately refer to my slush pile as a “treasure trove” because it doesn’t feel like wading through slush to me—it feels more like sifting through gems. Here are a few notes for you:
1. Right now I'm looking for picture books, middle grade, graphic novels, and adult fiction (particularly rom coms, thrillers, upmarket fiction, magical realism/cozy fantasy). If you'd like to read a more detailed MSWL you can visit my website: www.adriagoetz.com
2. Please include a full length, traditional query letter in the query letter field of the form. Please do not skip this section!
3. If you are submitting a novel, please share your first 10 pages and a synopsis.
4. If you are an author-illustrator, you can upload your picture book dummy or sample art as a PDF or share a link to it—whichever you'd prefer. If you opt to share a link, please include the link in your query letter as well. Please also share a link to your portfolio, and please mention that you are an author-illustrator in your query letter.
5. If you are submitting a picture book manuscript, please share the full manuscript.
6. If there are sections on the form that don't apply to you/your work, feel free to leave those fields blank or write "N/A." If there are sections that ask for things already included in your query—please include them again. I recognize that this might feel repetitive/tedious to you, but it is helpful/appreciated on my end!
7. Please do not fill out the form in ALL CAPS.
8. According to my QueryManager data, I respond to 95% of submissions within 30 days. If you do not receive a response from me within 30 days, it means I have dogeared your submission to take a closer look at. I will respond when I am able—bear with me! Please only follow up on your query if you have a status update, such as receiving another offer of representation. You do not need to inform me when you receive full manuscript requests.
I can’t wait to see what you’ve created!
